I have been a lawyer focused on litigation for more than 20 years and a cigar smoker for even longer. Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate that some of life’s best conversations happen over a good cigar.
I enjoy a great smoke with good friends—or a good smoke with great friends. The cigar community has introduced me to many interesting people and lasting friendships, and I value the opportunity to meet and connect with fellow enthusiasts from all walks of life.
Through this site, I hope to share my experiences, thoughts, and conversations while celebrating the culture and camaraderie that make cigar smoking so enjoyable. I also believe in preserving the freedom for adults to responsibly enjoy premium cigars and the traditions that surround them.
Whether you’re a longtime aficionado or simply curious about the hobby, welcome—and thanks for stopping by.
Dale Raven North
Hi, I’m Dale Raven North.
I started this blog in 2007 to share my travel adventures with friends and family, and it has grown into a collection of stories, experiences, and practical tips from my journeys around the world. These aren’t sponsored travel articles—they’re personal accounts written at the end of long days spent exploring new places. My hope is that you’ll find something here that helps you plan your own travels or inspires you to discover somewhere new.
I usually travel solo, though my mother is my favorite travel companion when we journey together. I travel on a budget, staying in hostels and guesthouses, using public transportation, and eating at local markets. That said, I’m always willing to spend a little extra for a truly memorable experience.
I love wandering through markets, museums, historic sites, narrow streets, and neighborhoods off the typical tourist path. I’m fascinated by history, maps, public transit, street life, languages, and the unexpected adventures that come from getting lost and meeting new people.
A few facts about me: I live in Canada and have also lived in Miami Beach and London. Egypt is my favorite country I’ve visited. I’m a vegetarian and a lawyer. I’ve spent nights everywhere from hostels and luxury hotels to yurts, caves, convents, and even atop a moving freight train in Mauritania.
Travel is always on my mind, and I’m constantly planning the next adventure.
Thanks for stopping by. Whether you know me personally or found your way here by chance, I hope you enjoy the stories and find something useful along the way.
